History
The Grande Prairie Rugby Football Club has been bringing rugby to the Peace Region since 1982. Hosting several divisions and teams the club has a place for everyone!
In 2019, all three senior teams qualified for playoffs for the first time in club history. The Centaurs 2nd division team captured the provincial rugby title winning the 2nd division crown, and women’s Sirens placing 3rd in the ERU standings. The few years of Covid-19 and the lockdowns has affected Grande Prairie Rugby as any other sports team, but we came out strong in 2022. The women’s team competed in the premier division for the first time in history. Even though the men had to drop down to one team in 2022 they had an impressive season and placed second in 2nd division. In 2023, the women's team competed in 1st Division.
In 2023, our club entered a U18 Boys and U18 Girls team in the Alberta Regional Championships (ARC) for the first time. In 2024 we seen immense growth in this program and the athletes, with our Gryphons (boys) playing their hearts out placing 8th and out Hydras (girls) placing 6th, beating Calgary. We also seen the start and growth of the Warriors County Provincial Rep Teams competing at the ARC 15s for U16 and U18 athletes.
